so im not sure why my boot manager was corrupt in the first place since i didnt touch the SSD partition. I turned off the computer and then turned it back on. I can boot with the Win installation disk to the restored system, but when I switch priority to disk, I am stopped by the missing MBR. I just figured out another way to get the job done and have not looked back since. That is until now, Windows 8 won't even register the license for Ghost (but that's his comment is here
If you can copy the boot files and operate normally with disc 0 disconnected, you should then be able to clone or image disc 1 to the SSD. How "fast" is the SSD compared to your old HD? Lets see if the SSD is the problem. You have already deleted the partitions on the SSD. But, when I select the drive in the BIOS to boot the SSD, I get BOOTMGR is missing. Does the drive letter need to be changed in Disk Managment? This is very discouraging. When you are installing a new drive or a drive that does not have the 100MB partition already, it seems like Ghost does not like to create it. I tried a cloning again on the same drives as 2 days ago and FAIL. Rather than doing the whole project again, I suggest creating booting files in the new Win7 partition. At first, the cursor was blinking. Win7 is much harder to clone than WinXP and needs attention to details. Turn on Machine and Boot to Bios Screen 5. Should I tell him about my imposter syndrome? When I later needed to restore, I too received the dreaded "missing mbr." None of the suggestions offered about fixing the MBR have worked.
