Nvidia's own driver got me past the welcome screen, but a few seconds after the welcome screen the display went black again. To my amazement, this finally solved this stubborn problem, without needing to go without AV. (Specifically, 80 consecutive reboots were successful on 4 different machines. Ask ! No matter what I tried the computer would not respond.  I installed prevx's fix last night and it seems to have corrected the problem thus far. Check This Out
